The ‘Loire à Vélo’ is an exceptional cycle route for easy cycling holidays:

The ‘Loire à Vélo’ trail is one of the best ways to discover the Loire Valley (included since November 2000 on the UNESCO World Heritage List as a living cultural landscape) at your own pace.

This app is an all-in-one tool !

The ‘Pays de Chinon’, a stopping place on the ‘Loire à Vélo’ route

 

Located in the western part of the Touraine region, 59 km from the city of Tours, discover the ‘Pays de Chinon’ and the River Vienne banks. The loop out of the ‘Loire à Vélo’ route will take you through the towns of Huismes, Chinon, Savigny-en-Véron towards the small village of Candes-Saint-Martin, where the River Vienne and the River Loire meet (confluence).

 

Free detailed maps of the itinerary are available in English, German and Dutch at theTourist Office in Chinon.

Also, the official EuroVelo 6 Route map N°2 between Angers and Blois (4.00 €) and the guidebook (only in French) ‘La Loire à vélo de Nevers à l’Atlantique’ (14.50 €)

Accueil Vélo is a national trademark guaranteeing a high quality of welcome and services for cyclists.

 


This quality mark is similar to that you’ll find in certain other countries (e.g. Bett & Bike in Germany or Welcome Cyclists around Quebec)

 

Accueil Vélo is awarded to providers of accommodation, bike rental and repair companies, tourist offices, sightseeing sites and leisure facilities.

 

All those awarded the quality mark are located no more than 5km from an official cycle route and have to respect certain conditions :

 

• Offering a warm welcome specially geared to cycling tourists via: a personalized welcome, information and advice (on cycling trails, weather, further Accueil Vélo services)

 

• Offering services such as: luggage transfers, clothes washing and drying, rental of bikes and accessories, bike-cleaning.

 

• Offering special facilities: a secure shelter for bikes and repair kits.

 

 

The Tourist Office of Chinon is an Accueil Vélo member. Feel free to stop there on your way.
